Yes I did!  There are 3 basic ways to get stuff FREE in Las Vegas, from rooms to shows to meals.  I will cover all of them ~ Free Attractions, Free Comps, and playing MyVegas for all kinds of FREE stuff in Vegas and with their partners!  Attractions and comps will be on this page, but to get the most out of MyVegas and believe me its' well worth it, I will have to have that on seperate pages.  It's shocking how much I'm getting FREE inVegas just from this game!!!!

Did you say FREE Las Vegas?!

Free Attractions in Las Vegas

You might be thinking that if it's free to do it's not worth doing.  Well some things are better than others, but a few are definately worth your time, others are a great thing to do if you've left most of your  money back at the casino floor.  I'll keep this as up to date as possible.

Las Vegas Sign - South end of the strip

No trip to Las Vegas is complete without your photo in front of the famous Welcome to Las Vegas sign.  It's free but we warned of people that will offer to take your photo for you then want you to tip them.

Kà Behind the Scenes- MGM Grand

From what I've heard this is the best 30 minutes in Vegas, expecially for free!  The beauty and technical aspects of Kà are amazing, the theater is jaw dropping.  I will be writing about this on my blog as soon as I see it and will update this paragaph too.  It's only on Tuesdays at 11am and 11:30am (We saw Kà on Monday night then did the behind the scenes on Tuesday.  OMG this is sooooooo amazing!)

Rock and Roll History- Hard Rock Hotel Lobby

The Hard Rock Hotel has a nice collection of Rock and Roll history that you can see just by stepping into the hotel.  Includes instruments, clothing and other memorbelia of famous performers and those that have performed at the Hard Rock.

Fountains at Bellagio- Bellagio

Every 30 minutes in the off season and every 15 minutes at peak season you can enjoy a show with the fountains in front of Bellagio.  Music and coreography change with each show and trust me, the show is a different experience in day time and night time.  Pick your spot to get great views and photos.

Volcano at Mirage- Mirage

Ok I thought this would be a cheezy show but it's actually worth watching.  Pick your spot early though.  In the off season there were just 2 shows at 7pm and 9pm.  I'm not sure about peak season.  I'll let you know.

The Fall of Atlantis- Forum Shops at Ceasars

If you are a fan of bad animatronics then this is the show for  you.  Could have been much better in my opinion.

Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens- Bellagio

This is an every changing and beautiful break from the normal lights and sounds of Vegas.  Changing each season, Bellagio has a small but beautiful botanical garden inside the hotel!  Pass under the stunning art glass ceiling in the lobby and continue straight to the gardens.  Beautiful and air conditioned!

CBS Television City- MGM Grand

Ever talked to your TV and complained they didn't ask your opinion on what they just aired.  Well now you can be a part of the decision process.  Head to the MGM Grand and go to CBS Television City.  There you will be shown a pilot or an episode that hasn't aired and then will be asked to fill out a survey on what you have just seen.  This is the real deal, not some made up attraction.  Includes CBS, MTV, Nickelodeon, and other Viacom networks.  They did make the mistake of asking my opinions.... boy did I give it to them!  It was very interesting to see how the focus group process works.  This will give you a coupon for the gift shop, so don't shop first.

Visit Gold and Silver Pawn- north of Stratosphere on Las Vegas Blvd.

Fan of Pawn Stars?  Want to see the store?  It's north on Las Vegas Blvd, kinda tucked in betweent he wedding chapels.  The Duce even has a stop near there and will tell you when to get off and walk up just a block.  Who knows what interesting things you will find there.

Freemont Street Experience- Freemont St.

A truely unique experience, hop on the Duce and visit the Freemont Street Experience.  Hint... night is definately the time to go.  The canopy is lit up and often sync'd up to one of the many free concerts going on, the Slotzilla zoomline and zipline has people flying down the canopy, and there is quite the collection of unique street performers.  Also a great place to buy souvenirs cheeper than the strip.  This is the old Vegas has has great casinos such as Benions and 4 Queens.

See the worlds largest gold nugget- The Golden Nugget

While at the Freemont Street Experience, stop in to the historic Golden Nugget Casino.  Here you will find the largest gold nugget found.  It's cheezy but fun.

Take you picture with $1,000,000- Binion's

Ever wanted to see a real stack of money!  Here you can take your photo (no flash photography) with a stack of $100 bills totalling $1,000,000.  You can't touch but if someone ever says "have you seen a million dollars" you can truthfully say yes!  It's in the back of the casino on Freemont Street.

Lucky Cat- Cosmopolitan

First let me say that Cosmopolitan has to be one of the most beautiful casinos I've been to.  Here you will find the 9ft crome Lucky Cat.  Anyone 21 and older can touch his paw and get either a freebie from Cosmopolitan or a fortune.  Maybe you will get really lucky!

See the Flamingos- The Flamingo

Relax and enjoy the  Chilean Flamingos, exotic birds, koi fish and turtles.  Plus is just nice to visit a more historic hotel like the Flamingo after a day of all the new flashy casinos.

Whisky tasting at Vom Fass- The Venetian

If you like a good glass of whisky, then stop by Vom Fass at The Venetian.  You can try a sample from the kegs at any time, but Thursday, Friday and Saturdays at 7pm make it more fun with their Whiskey Experiencs.  This informal class teaches you how whiskey is made and how one differs from another.

Comps are still available, but not like in the old days.  You still can get some free stuff, but mostly from playing slots.  There you will put your players card in and earn based on how much you spin.  Remember that you are recycling money, so it's not how much you put in the maching, but how much total you have bet.  To earn comps at table games it's a bit more complicated.  When you sit down and buy your chips ask for the floor manager.  They will take your player information and look at how much you are buying and watch your first few hands to see how much you are betting.  There they will make notes and see how long you play.  When done you will need to ask again for the floor manager and ask them to comp you.  Playing MyVegas before you go is the best way to earn free comps and it's FREE to play!

The MLife Credit Card

MGM Resorts has just launched it's own Mastercard to help you earn points to use at the MGM collection of Resorts and Casinos.  The MGM owned properties include MGM Grand, Bellagio, Aria, Vdara, Mandalay Bay, Mirage, Monte Carlo, New York New York, Luxor, Excalibur, and Circus Circus. I must say as far as reward credit cards go, it's kinda middle of the road.  Some nice perks, but overall I'd rather have a credit card that earns me air miles so I can vacation wherever I want.  That being said, if Vegas is your favorite spot or if you go there a lot for business, then maybe this card is for you.  Here are the perks for the NEW MLife Mastercard...

  • 3X  Earn 3 points and 3 Tier Credits for $1 spent at Mlife Rewards Destinations

  • 2X  Earn 2 points and 2 Tier Credits per $1 spent at gas stations and supermarkets

  • 1X  Earn 1 point and 1 Tier Credit per $1 spent everywhere else

  • Receive 10,000 Bonus Points after spending $1000 in your first 3 billing cycles

  • Automatic Upgrade to Mlife Pearl Status

  • Priority Hotel Check-In (special line for Mlife Mastercard holders)

  • Buffet Line Pass at Las Vegas Resorts (this just gets you in a couple minutes faster)

  • Complimentary Self-Parking at Las Vegas Resorts (Yes they just started charging for parking)

  • NO ANUAL FEE (ok this may be my favorite part!)

I'm thinking this may be a great back-up card from my main credit card that is for my airmiles.  There are a couple of nice perks in there and it is FREE!
